The UH-Hilo men’s basketball team saw Point Loma hit four of its first seven 3-point attempts in an 82-68 loss to the defending conference champion Thursday in San Diego.

Jordan May scored 25 points on 10 of 16 shooting, Sterling Somers added 18 points, Darnell Robateau had 11, and Noah Staples had 10 for the Sea Lions (7-2, 3-0 PacWest), who shot 51 percent from the field.

Point Loma outrebounded UHH, 45-29, to win its third straight.

Jordan Graves scored 17 points, Kupaa Harrison added 16, Damani Whitlock had 11, and Sasa Vuksanovic had 10 for the Vulcans (2-4, 1-3), who went 0-3 on their road trip.

The Vuls missed their first eight 3-point attempts and finished 7 of 23 from long range. They shot 40 percent from the field.

The Sea Lions made 9 of 25 from long distance.

Women

Point Loma 78, UHH 46: The Sea Lions shot 10 of 27 from 3-point range, outrebounded the Vulcans, 44-34, and made life tough for Allie Navarette.

She finished with a double-double with 18 points, on just 5 of 16 shooting, and grabbed 10 rebounds. Mandi Kawaha also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Kawaha is 5 feet 2, yet managed to grab more rebound than all of her Vulcan teammates and the Sea Lions as well.

The Vuls shot 27 percent from the field, including just 3 of 18 from beyond the arc.

No one else scored in double figures for UHH (1-6, 0-4), which lost its sixth straight.

Point Loma (7-2, 3-0) has won six in a row.
